Helpful Long Term Passive Income Opportunities For Rookies

Many of the “make money online” gurus overlook the simple questions that newbies need answers to. Basic things like “What is Google AdSense?” If you find yourself in this group of rookies just trying to understand exactly how to make money online, then here is a little advice for you.

Make Money With AdSense

By far the frequent option for earning money online is Google AdSense. Here’s how it works. You put up a web page about some topic. Then you go to Google and sign up. Then copy some code from Google and paste it in your web page. This allows the Google ads to display on your page.

If someone clicks on one of these ads, the advertiser pays Google and Google gives you a portion of the profits. Of course, Google won’t tell what the split is, but best estimates are that Google pays 25% of the earnings.

Using this model means you need a website of some sort. Many of the experts recommend purchasing a domain and hosting if you want a website. Their point is valid. Their idea is that unless you own a domain, you are not in control of your own site. If you use a free service that goes out of business, your site goes with it. That sounds risky to a lot of folks.

But before you do any of that, consider starting a free blog to get your feet wet. Blogs are free and are much, much easier to get started with. You won’t have to know any code to get started. You can learn HTML and CSS (if you wish to) while building your blog, too.

The real secret to becoming successful using AdSense is this: create hundreds and hundreds of blogs. Everyone’s first instinct is that there’s not enough time to do that! There’s just no way! That’s just amateur fear. Think about it. Unless you are getting thousands of visitors to your ONE site every day (very, very unlikely), then the money earned from AdSense will range from a few pennies to a few dollars per day. Hardly retirement money.

The webmasters that make big money create as many sites / blogs as possible. Start with just one or two, and grow over time. This doesn’t mean making a bunch of junk sites. Just small, targeted sites. Early on, you probably won’t earn much. Most quit at this point - and that’s sad for them. But keep at it, and give it time... that’s how you earn money.

Keyword + Value + Traffic + Time = Passive Income

If you join any of the “make money online” forums, you quickly pick up the same lesson from everyone that has been doing the same wrong things. In their eagerness, they ran out and started up a site and spent months perfecting their site. And made no money at all. Why? No traffic!

Without traffic you cannot make money online. Its that simple. This is the single most important factor and what you will probably tear out your hair trying to figure out. Once your site is up and running, most of your time will be spent attracting people to your site. It takes a lot of work, and there are no shortcuts. There are some helpful sites out there, but you still have to put in the time.

But even if you work hard enough (or are lucky enough) to land the top spot in the search engines (SEs) for your chosen keyword, unless your keyword holds value, then you still won’t make much money. You have to do some research about which keywords are worth the most money - AND that you can rank for to earn a living.

Let’s say you are #1 in the SEs and your keyword gets searched for 50,000 times per month. And maybe your keyword earns you 10 cents per click. If you manage to get 10% of the search traffic to your blog - and then maybe get 5% of that traffic to click your ads... you’ll end up making about $25 a month. Now let’s not turn that down, but let’s not throw a party either. But if you had 100 blogs like that you’re starting to look at some real income. Or 1000 sites like that.

Small niche sites that are all linked together and making a few cents or a few dollars per day. While you continue to build more blogs. Now this is a long term view of making money online. This won’t bring in any money this week, or this month. But if you commit to the plan, it is a sound way to earn a passive income online.

Interesting Hub. Always remember the most important word "long term." Meaning that it won't happen overnight. But if you work hard long enough, it will be more profitable for you than you could ever imagine.
